Working with Ansys Discovery

This feature is not available with Granta EduPack 2021 R2 Introductory.

Compatible with Ansys Discovery 2021 R2 onwards.

Granta EduPack can be launched from Ansys Discovery, and selection results exported into the correct format.

Launching Granta EduPack from Ansys Discovery

No add-in is required to launch Granta EduPack from within Ansys Discovery.

If you have both Granta Selector and Granta EduPack installed, Discovery will launch Granta Selector.

You will be prompted to save any changes you have made to the selection project when closing Granta EduPack. Note that these changes (and therefore selection stages and charts) will not be saved in Ansys Discovery.

Exporting selection results

Data exported to Ansys Discovery from Granta EduPack must be saved in your Shared or Local material library locations before you can view the materials in Discovery.

The default local library location is C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Ansys_Inc\Discovery\LocalMaterialLibrary\.

AppData is, by default, a hidden folder. In Windows Explorer, you will need to navigate directly to the folder by entering its filepath, or go to the View tab and select the Hidden items checkbox.

The materials list should update automatically. If your exported materials are not visible:

Double-check the exported files are in the correct location (shared and local folders are listed under Material Defaults).
Restart Discovery to refresh the materials list.
