Search a database
Hints and tips for searching the current database using the Search panel.
To search a database:
- Click Search on the main toolbar to open the Search panel.
- If required, click Change to select a different database to search.
- Type the text to search for and press Return, or click the Search icon inside the search bar. You can use search operators.
Search results are listed in the Search panel, grouped by data table. Double-click a record here to open its datasheet; the search term will be highlighted wherever it appears.
If no results were found, try the following:
- Text searches:
- Check spelling
- Use synonyms
- Abbreviate term
- Designation, grade, standards searches
- Remove qualifiers – EN24 rather than EN24T
- Segment terms – EN 10025 rather than EN10025
- Concatenate terms – 216m36 rather than 216 m36

The search tool searches all data tables within a database.
