Create a custom subset

A custom subset allows you to define specific records and properties to use in a selection project. Customizing the settings allows you a free choice from the available tables and subsets. Click to see the Custom Subset dialogClick to see the Custom Subset dialog

Custom Subset dialog

To create a custom subset:

  1. In the Select from list, click Custom: Define your own subset.
  2. Choose a Selection table.
  3. Choose an Initial subset.
    • To include only records in the current favorites list, click <Favorites>.
  4.  To add or remove records or folders from this initial subset, select or deselect items in the panel:
    • A checked box means that the record and all records below it on the tree are included
    • A filled box means that only some of the records below it on the tree are included
    • A cleared box means that the record and all records below it on the tree are excluded
  5. Choose the Selection attributes. These are the properties available to select from in the selection project.

Choosing a new initial subset or selection table will clear your custom settings.

If a layout with the same name as the initial subset is found, this is set as the selection layout.

The custom subset will also apply to the browse tree, until a new browse subset is chosen.

Remove records from the current subset

To remove a record from the current subset, do one of the following:

When a record is removed from the subset, it is no longer displayed on selection charts or in the results list.

You can also remove records from the current subset from the Custom Subset dialog: in the Selection Project window, click Custom: Define your own subset in the Select from list and select/deselect items in the panel as described above.

Notes

A custom subset is saved within a selection project. To use a custom subset in multiple selection projects, save a custom template.
