A limit stage filters records by applying limits to one or more attributes. Any record which meets all the limit stage selection criteria will pass this stage. Limit stages can be combined with chart stages to refine the selection of records.
To create a new limit stage, under Selection Stages, click . To open an existing limit stage, double-click it in the Selection Stages list.
Set the selection criteria and then click Apply. This performs the selection and updates the Selection Results window.
Numeric limits—minimum, maximum, or range—can be specified for range, point, and integer data. You can cut, copy, and paste values here.
For the numerical attributes Range, Point, Functional Range, and Functional Point, data values can be entered as:
with a maximum of 6 significant figures.
For Integer attributes, data values can be entered as an integer e.g. 456, with a maximum of 6 significant figures.
Click the Limit Guidance button for help on the maximum and minimum value in the database for a material class. Limit guidance charts are only available for some attributes.
For many attributes, you can click on the attribute name to view additional notes about it.
Where applicable, dates are entered as a year. Dates with negative values are Before Common Era (BCE).
If a reference record is set, its values for each property are shown alongside the selection criteria in the Limit Stage window, for example:
Select discrete values from a list. More than one value may be selected.
Materials matching any of the discrete values selected (and that pass the rest of the stage) will show up in the results. For example, for the Transparency attribute, select one of: Opaque, Translucent, Transparent, Optical quality.
For logical data, click the check box to cycle through true , false , and its original unchecked state. For example, for the attribute Recycle, RoHS (EU) compliant grades?
Select the Exists check box to find records containing functional series data for the selected attribute.
Click Settings to view the limit stage settings and set the title, parameter values and 'pass when' criteria for the stage. See View and edit stage settings.
To remove all existing selection criteria for the stage, click Clear. Note that removes all selection criteria but does not update the Selection Results window until has also been clicked. Both actions must be carried out to remove the selection for a Limit stage.
